So yesterday evening I finally got the chance to watch The Simpsons Movie with a bunch of friends. We went for 5:40pm show, which was the last show of yesterday. The movie has been playing for seven days now and all their timings really suck, at least for me, as I find them inconvenient because all their three shows are in daytime. Today, though, I managed to go to catch the 5:40pm show. I was there at 5:55pm and I thought I wouldn't find myself tickets, but to my surprise the theatre was less than half full and I could book tickets for myself and my other 4 friends. The people of the cinema think that only kids would watch this movie and no adults would watch it. It's true that the theatre was packed with a lot of kids and very few adults were there, but I personally think that this movie doesn't suit children under 12 years old.
The movie is basically about how Homer caused a radioactive leak into the river of Springfield and he must save the world from the disaster he created. It was a pretty good movie but wasn't really special. Just another episode of The Simpsons show, but a long one. The movie as a movie was too short and ended SO quick, but I just considered it a long episode of The Simpsons show, which is true, because nothing is special about the movie. It was funny though and I really liked it. Homer seriously cracks me up sometimes, lol.
All in all, the movie was very good, but if you didn't watch it yet, I recommend waiting for the DVD release. It is worth watching, but not worth being watched in the movies.

Two points were cut off from five because nothing is special about the movie. Just another episode of The Simpsons. Some normal episodes of the show are funnier than the movie. And, it was too short as a movie. Moreover, it is not worth being watched in the cinema, although it's good.

Actually I am not a fan of the Simpsons, so it doesn't matter really!
and yeh i think the cinema should be inforemed and KNOW that this is not entirely a kids movie.
like imagine a FAMILY GUY (which i think can have more stuff that kids shouldnt watch but THE SIMPSONS seems to be lighter)movie with all the violent scenes n jesus jokes n dark comedy ! :p

I've never laughed while watching this show, not a bit. I don't think I'll watch this movie, not after the DVD release either..

yasir: Just as muscati said on OCB, they think that any animated movie is for kids. And that is completely wrong. Some animated movies really do not suit people under 18 years old. like Family Guy and South Park. South Park isn't a kids show by any chance!!!
But, isn't the committee of censorship supposed to watch the movie before being screened in cinema and then decide whether it is suitable for kids or not? The Simpsons isn't that bad anyways. I just felt that some scenes were not supposed to be watched by the 4 - 5 years old girl was next to me nor by the rest of 4 - 10 years old kids were in the theatre.
Meticulousness: Shoorak! :-p but you won't miss anything really, even if you didn't watch it after the DVD release. It's not any funnier than the show, and since you don't find the show funny, you will definitely not find the movie funny.
